Is Iranian Revelution a Blood Bath?

Assuming that what the Ayatollah, who calls the shots, is what runs Iran, I see no reason why the military wouldn't a second thought about gunning down hundreds maybe thousands of people in the name of Shia Law. Sad to say, this may be true.
